up early

this morning i have been up since 4. there is such a quiet. like nothing i experience the rest of the day. i have coffee in hand, have had a chance for devotional time and now catching up on everyone's blogs.

i love our small group. we get together wednesdays nights for dinner and sharing with a group of 6-7 families. we have a babysitter for our nearly 20 kids. right now the girls and guys are splitting up in our study "journey to freedom." we are going deeper. it is really meeting a need for me to take these surface friendships to new levels.''

i am the maid of honor in a wedding in june. it is for one of the students i actually disciplined at san diego christian college. we ended up going through henri nouwen's "life of the beloved" and it was tranforming for us both. it will be an honor to stand by her side as she says her vows. i am already stewing (or thinking intently in a good way, perhaps mulling is a better way to say it) about what i will say in the toast. it is such a short time with the opportunity to deliver a powerful message. it will be an amazing time. i wish scott could go with me. but because of finances and lack of childcare he will have to stay behind.

kayti is getting braces this week. we set aside money in scott's flexible spending account through work to get this accomplished. she is excited. she needs them so bad. it is a gift i am so happy we can give her--the gift of a beautiful smile. the whole process should take about 30 months.

i am signing my contract today...one day early. so it is back to work after a long hiatus. i know the time is right. i am just not wired to stay home, even though i long to do it. it is a wierd conundrum. i am not sure if that is the right word, but it is all i could come up with.

and ryan is up so i am off for the day.

a new path

after a month on unemployment, i am launching back into the world of the working. i will be self-employed. an insurance agent for aflac, selling supplemental insurance.

i take my insurance exam monday and am hoping i pass. if all goes according to plan i will sign my contract with aflac on thursday afternoon.

this is a bit scary but also exciting. it is commission based. i will only get paid if i get the sales. but i will make my own schedule and work from home. i will control h0w much i work. i can make time for special kid events like field trips.

aflac is actually one of fortune magazine's best 100 companies to work for, so i feel good knowing that.

my strengths according to strengthfinders 2.0 are strategic, communication and relator, so i think this will be a good fit. i will keep you posted.
